Home and Apartment Safety Tips

In the past week I have heard of at least two fires that have completely destroyed homes.   Luckily, all the individuals got out safely, but a couple of pets were lost.  A fire where you reside is a horrible thing.  Especially around the holidays.  Some of these fires are preventable.

PLEASE please please check your smoke alarm batteries.   Even if they are hard wired, test your smoke alarm and make sure it is operating and functioning properly.  Be sure to test your carbon monoxide detector too.  It is a silent killer.

Do not put this off another day.

If you have a wood burning stove or fireplace or even pellet stove there are cleaning and safety precautions that need to be taken.   The chimney needs to be cleaned REGULARLY.

If you have a Christmas tree, make sure you water it daily and keep it away from the heater.

Keep all combustibles away from radiators, heaters, stoves, and hot water tanks.

I have written much more detailed information in previous blogs and several of the companies we work with also offer FREE tips and advice.
